Narkanda

Narkanda is a town and a nagar panchayat in Kumarsain subdivision of Shimla district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is at an elevation of 2708 meters on the Indo-Tibet Road in Himachal Pradesh, India within a fir forest. It is about 60 km away from Shimla and surrounded by the Himalayan Range.

At an elevation of 8,500 feet above sea level in the Shivalik Range of the Himalayas, Narkanda is a small town in Himachal Pradesh that boasts of picturesque beauty, stunning views of the Himalayan mountains, and lush green forests. How to Reach:

By Air

To reach Narkanda by flight, you can book flight from your city to Jubbarhatti Airport, located 22 kilometres from Shimla City Center. From there, you will find many transportation options to reach Narkanda. One option is to take a bus from ISBT Shimla. Buses to Rampur and Narkanda run every 2-3 hours, and the bus ride from Shimla to Narkanda takes around 4-5 hours. If you prefer a more comfortable and direct option, you can hire private taxi, cab or tempo traveller to reach in 3 to 4 hours.

By Train

To travel cost-effectively, train tickets are budget options. The nearest railway station to Narkanda is Kalka Railway Station. From Kalka, you can book Kalka to Shimla toy train tickets. If tickets to Kalka are unavailable, Chandigarh Station is another accessible option from various cities across the country. The toy train journey from Kalka to Shimla takes around 5-6 hours . From there, buses to Rampur are available, taking about 3 to 4 hours to reach. Once in Rampur, you can catch a bus to Narkanda from ISBT Shimla.

By Road
