Functions and Duties of District Panchayat office
District level office of representing department of Panchayati Raj of state Government. The main function of this office is to implement the mandate contained in the notification, orders, guidelines and other instructions by the state government, more specifically by the department of Panchayati Raj. This office has a significant role in the implementation of HP Panchayati Raj Act 1994 and the related rules. This office has also given significant functions for taking necessary measures for capacity building and empowerment of the elected representatives of Panchayati Raj institution. Another function of this office is to have a supervisory role for regulating the malpractices in Panchayati Raj institution by means of conducting audit, inspection and inquiries and also taking disciplinary action, wherever necessary.
District Panchayat Officer have also been designated as Secretary, Zila Parishad and assistant election officer for carrying out the functions related to Zila Parishad and State Election Commision.
